JUICESEAMOSSWellness Shots

What is sea moss and what is all the hype? Did you know there are thousands of different species of sea vegetables? I personally enjoy Wakame. That bright green seaweed used to make seaweed salad. But the two most popular sea vegetable currently circulating is Genus Gracilaria and Chondrus Crispus, also known as Irish Moss. Gracilaria, is found in warmer waters of the Caribbean, while Irish Sea Moss is found in cooler waters. What I currently have available is the Genus Gracilaria. Wild harvested from the waters of St. Lucia. NEVER POOL FARMED.

I want you to have a good understanding of this powerful sea vegetable so that you can make an informed decision.

I won’t bore and leave you hanging with the same speal you heard over and over about how many minerals are in sea moss blah blah blah, but if you're like me, you want to understand the benefits of what goes into your body. In sea moss you will find:

  • Iodine.  Iodine benefits your body by helping your thyroid gland make thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormone has a number of important functions, like helping your cells make protein and regulating your metabolism.

  • Need more energy?  Seamoss has Zinc and Iron which give you the energy you need. Speaking personally, I find when I take  seamoss, I especially feel more energetic and want to exercise. It’s almost like my body automatically knows it’s kicking into gear.

  •  Copper is a mineral that’s found throughout the body. It helps your body make red blood cells and keeps nerve cells healthy. It also helps form collagen, a key part of bones and connective tissue.

  • When it comes to heart health, Potassium is a necessary mineral that helps regulate the heartbeat, ensures proper function of the muscles and nerves, and is critical for synthesizing protein and metabolizing carbohydrates.

of course, sea moss contains many more minerals, but I’ll stop here.

Culinary:

Once seamoss is in gel form, you can put in many recipes. From smoothies, soups and sauces or simply on its own. I personally have used it as a thickener in place of flour. Because it is tasteless, you can experience a great deal of culinary benefits.

Cosmetic:

Seaweeds, in general, have proven to be exceptional for skin.  Sea moss's moisturizing properties come from its high amount of carrageenans widely used in the cosmetic industry. Their water-binding properties hold water and moisture to the skin instead of letting it evaporate.

Besides being naturally moisturizing and anti-inflammatory, this skincare powerhouse helps treat numerous skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Sea moss is also one of the best sources of plant-based collagen to slow down skin aging and promote skin elasticity.

A natural skin moisturizer & protector Sea moss gel is an efficient all-natural skin moisturizer that forms a protective film onto the skin.   Anti-aging, tightening, and collagen-boosting miracle.

HOW TO CHOOSE:

Choosing the "best" color should align with your specific health needs: For skin health and antioxidants, go for purple sea moss. For eye and immune health, choose gold sea moss. For gut health and detox, pick green sea moss.
